Restaurant Review – Sanctuary

Event number 2 of Restaurant Club was a success. This month’s event was at a small restaurant called Sanctuary located in downtown Minneapolis. If you’re familiar with the area, it’s in the East side of the city off of Washington – right near the Guthrie. Parking is plentiful, but you’ll have to be prepared to plug a meter or pay for a surface lot.

We planned our visit on a night that offered a Fixed Price menu (aka Prix Fixe) where you pay a flat rate for a multi-course meal. Our meal was 5 courses for $35. It was a steal, and the food was wonderful. There wasn't a single thing we didn't love!

Here is a summary and pictures of our meal.

Bread: Served with wasabi hummus and roasted almonds

Course #1: Bay Scallops with garlic coconut milk broth, dehydrated mussel essence, and crostini

Course #2: Romaine Hearts with 1,000 Island dressing, caramelized ramps, and Hawaiian sea salt

Course #3: Grouper with Mandarin tangerine broth with English peas, paprika cream cheese and micro greens

Course #4: Carbonara pasta with wood mushrooms, prosciutto, tomato powder, and micro greens

Course #5: Bailey's Cheesecake with chocolate crust and strawberry puree
